WELCOME TO SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA!!! The 2009 MAAE summer conference will be held at the Jackpot Junction Conference Center July 6-10. Visit their website for additional information at www.jackpotjunction.com. The planning committee from Region 5 has planned an excellent conference. All registration materials are available at the MAAE website: www.maae.umn.edu
DUES AND FEES The workshop fee will be $212.00. This includes a breakfast, two luncheons, picnic, banquet ticket, refreshments, tour transportation, and conference materials.
RESERVATIONS The cutoff for making lodging reservations is June 6. Contact the Hotel at 1-800-946-2274 to make reservations and ask for the MAAE block. Room rates are $46.00 (plus 11.5% tax).
RV PARK Jackpot has an excellent RV Park. Check their website under “lodging” for additional information.
TUESDAY EVENING RECREATION A picnic and regional volleyball tourney is being planned. Indicate number attending on the registration sheet.
SPOUSES PROGRAM Be sure to check the MAAE website and return the registration form.
GOLF – A golf outing for Monday afternoon is being planned. Indicate if you wish to participate on the conference registration form if interested.
KIDS QUEST Jackpot offers numerous activities for the children. Check their website.
GRADUATE CREDIT The University of Minnesota Division of Agricultural Education will be offering graduate credit. You can register for credit and pay the tuition at the conference site. Instructors registering for credit need to attend workshops Monday, Thursday and Friday of conference.
MEAL COUNTS We are attempting to become more accurate in the counts for meal functions. Be sure to indicate the meal functions you will attend on the registration form.
REGISTRATION NEEDED Please complete the registration form and return it to Tom Appel at Mt. Lake High School no later than May 15. If your spouse is planning to attend, please fill out the spouse’s registration form and return it at the same time. We need this information to make guarantees for the meal functions, final room scheduling, and preparation of workshop materials.
REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN Conference registration, tuition fees, and MAAE dues can be paid Tuesday morning. A final program with workshop assignments, name badges, and tour information, etc. will be distributed at that time. Instructors need to increase years of MAAE and teaching by one year.

MAAE CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS Conference scholarship application forms are available on the website. IF YOU RECEIVED A CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP AT THE 2008 SUMMER CONFERENCE, SUBMIT A GRADE SLIP OR TRANSCRIPT TO RECEIVE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP.
TENURE / SERVICE AWARDS AND RETIREES – Those instructors who are eligible to receive 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 year tenure / service awards should contact Nathan Vrieze. If you are a retiree, contact Peter Neigebauer.
